What Are 120,000 Qantas Points Worth?

When it comes to putting a value on frequent flyer points, it all comes down to how you plan to use them. At Flight Hacks, we only use our points on premium cabin Classic Reward seats (you can read our ultimate Qantas Classic Reward guide here if you’re new). This means we value Qantas Points around the 1 cent mark (to obtain them). However, when we go to redeem them, we aim to get at least 3 to 15 cents value.

To summarise, most people who like redeeming their points for business and first class flights would be happy to pay around $1,200 for 120,000 Qantas Points, but the final value will depend on how you redeem them.
Considering the annual fee of the Qantas Premier Platinum is only $199 for the first year, that’s an incredible value proposition.

How Does The Qantas Premier Platinum Bonus Points Work?

To earn a total of 120,000 bonus points, you will need to spend $1,500 or more on eligible purchases per month for the first 6 months. Every month you complete the minimum spend requirement, you will earn 20,000 bonus Qantas Points. The bonus Qantas Points will ordinarily be credited within 6 – 8 weeks of meeting the spend criteria for that month. Keep in mind this needs to be in consecutive order so you can’t just skip a month and pick up where you left off later.

The months are based on your statement period and not calendar months; this means you have until the date listed on your statement to meet the minimum spend.

It’s a very reasonable minimum spend per month, so just remember to pay all your bills, groceries, petrol and other everyday expenses with your Qantas Premier Platinum card.

Qantas Lounge Invites

As part of this offer, members will also receive 2 Qantas lounge invitations each year they hold the card. These can be redeemed for domestic Qantas Club visits and international Qantas Business class lounge access. You can use them as long as you’re flying Qantas or Jetstar. To use your digital passes, you can simply link them to your Qantas flight booking online via this website. Just make sure you do this at least 24hrs before departure!

Brisbane to Tokyo in Business Class with Qantas Return for 136,800 Qantas points

Qantas flies direct to Tokyo with the A330’s featuring the fantastic Vantage XL seats which offer a perfect amount of privacy and comfort for a trip to Tokyo. Sydney to Hong Kong Return in Business Class with Cathay Pacific for 136,800 Qantas points

You can do the same trip with Qantas in business but in my opinion, Cathay has a better product on the A330 or 777-300ER. The seats are very spacious and comfortable whilst the service is personal and very much on point.

On top of that, Cathay has the best business class lounge in the world. The Pier lounge in Hong Kong is an amazing experience and something you need to check out for yourself.

You can book your flights directly through the Qantas reward booking system. Alternatively, you can mix it up and take a Qantas flight on the way there and Cathay on the way back!
