The brand new Qantas First Class lounge in Singapore has been in the making for about a year and although the lounge was scheduled to open at the media launch date of December 2, 2019; it’s now officially open!

The first class lounge is available to passengers flying with Qantas in first class or those who hold Qantas Platinum status or higher travelling with Qantas, Jetstar or any other One World airline. 

Other One World frequent flyers who hold Emerald status travelling with either Qantas or any other One World airline, can also access the lounge.  

Those travelling in first class with any other One World airline and don’t have status, can, of course, visit this lounge as well.

Qantas First Class Lounge Singapore Location 

The Qantas First Class Singapore lounge is a short 2-minute stroll from the business class lounge when you come through passport control, turn right and head up the escalator when you see the Gucci store.

Qantas Lounge Overview

The lounge is pretty big and has a maximum capacity of 240 people which will be a huge relief for the Qantas Business Class lounge down the road, which in the past struggled with capacity at times.

First impressions count and Qantas knocked it out of the park with the design aesthetic. It’s a case of Italian marble everything, and I love it. 

The marble is offset by gold/brass details and perforated wooden panels. A duotone pallet of light and dark colours divides the dining rooms. On one side there are dark grey and green leather bench seats and on the other side light beige seats with soft leather upholstery complete the picture. 

Dining tables and coffee tables are of course, made out of a combination of wood and marble.

The new Qantas First Class lounge in Singapore has a significant emphasis on dining. By my guess, roughly 70% of the lounge is made up of dining areas which are subdivided into sections of brassy goodness.

The remaining 30% are comfortable lounge seats, a shared working table and the signature skylight installed at the entrance, for those looking to adjust to the local Timezone. 

The same skylights are installed in all the shower suites to help you feel refreshed – at least, so I’ve been told. 

If you’re a Qantas Frequent Flyer (Platinum and above), you will feel right at home in this new lounge. The whole design is similar to the other first-class lounges (such as the excellent Qantas First Class Lounge in Sydney), but there are some subtle improvements. 

Food & Beverage 

Since a big focus of this lounge is the a-la-carte dining, make sure you come to the lounge hungry! 

The menu is very much the same as other Qantas First Class lounges, the all too familiar salt and pepper squid is excellent and so was the rest of the food we tried. 

Drinks-wise, there are plenty of champagnes on offer, and the wine list, in general, reflects that of other Qantas First Class lounges around the world. 

Service & Amenities

Service was outstanding during our visit; there were plenty of waiters manning the dining sections of the lounge and champagne glasses never went dry.  Cold towels were offered to all guests, which is a nice touch.

The staff in the lounge are part of Accor’s Sofitel team (thankfully they don’t greet each guest with a “bonjour”) and this was definitely noticeable. Service throughout the lounge was very proactive, friendly and professional.

In terms of connectivity, the free wifi is fast and power points are plentiful (they even include IUSB charge ports)

Showers and Bathrooms 

There are shower suites available to guests, and each suite comes with an individual toilet and a set of amenities (dental kit, shaving kit, etc.). Of course, this is a new lounge, so it wasn’t a surprise that shower suites and bathrooms were spotless. 

Qantas Singapore First Class Lounge Conclusion 

The new Qantas First Class lounge in Singapore T1 is a welcome addition, and right now I would say it’s the best lounge in the entire airport. One World Emerald and higher frequent flyers and those travelling first class on a One World airline will be very impressed with this new space and what it has to offer.  Sure, there are no spa facilities, but I think the food and beverage options make up for this. 

What’s the best lounge in Singapore right now? I think it’s safe to say Qantas can take the crown for the time being.
